We need inpatient drug rehab treatment and more drug education like we need air. Drug legalization is not the answer! Yes maybe police should focus more on the more serious crimes, but giving in and saying its okay by legalizing drugs will make matters worse.
Although the day of prohibition appear to create the criminal element its really not true, the criminal element was already there, they just took advantage of a new way to make money. Alcohol is now legal and kills more people everyyear that all illegal drugs combined. More people search for inpatient alcohol rehab now than ever before.
Education is the key to ending the demand for drugs and more regulation on pharmaceutical companies, who by the way are responsible for creating most drugs in the first place. About 1.9 million people are able to recieve drug or alcohol addiction treatment each year with state funded treatment facilites, a few thousand more with privately or self pay programs and most are outpatient rehabs.
Very few addicts actually get the inpatient drug rehab treatment needed with government funded substance abuse treatment facilities and this is what it takes to have success in addiction recovery. Inpatient drug rehab programs should be at least three months in length and keep addicts off of psych drugs during the treatment. Nothing can be handled if the actual issues are continually masked with mind altaring drugs.
